2014 Advent Reflection: Third Week
This Sunday is sometimes known as “Gaudete Sunday” and means in Latin “rejoice“! We rejoice for the Lord is coming, He is near! We forget that Jesus is here with us, Emmanuel, but we prepare our hearts to celebrate His “SOON” coming! We celebrate with the expectation that He is closer than we think.
Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!
Sing joyfully, O Israel!
Be glad and exult with all your heart,
O daughter Jerusalem!
The LORD has removed the judgment against you
he has turned away your enemies;
the King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst,
you have no further misfortune to fear.
On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem:
Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!
The LORD, your God, is in your midst,
a mighty savior;
he will rejoice over you with gladness,
and renew you in his love,
he will sing joyfully because of you,
as one sings at festivals.
Let us slow down and keep our joy! It is important to take time to reflect on our life, even during the busyness of our lives. Many will be preparing for Christmas and it would be easy to get catch up on our own agendas. Just was we are busy with our material preparations, we need to be equally busy preparing spiritually for the soon coming Jesus.
