2017 Advent Reflection Week Two
“‘Comfort, comfort My people,’ says your God. ‘Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and announce to her that her time of forced labor is over, her iniquity has been pardoned, and she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.’ A voice of one crying out: Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert.'”
2nd CANDLE – (purple) THE BETHLEHEM CANDLE or THE CANDLE OF PREPARATION
As we light this second candle, we are preparing this week, by stepping up the responsibility of LOVE. We move through this week by naming deeper and more specific desires.
This past week, we may have experienced or encountered times that we are feeling discouraged by the craziness of life. We may be feeling like life is passing you by. During this second week of Advent, take a deep breath, and reflect on the scripture above. ‘Comfort, comfort My people,’ says your God. ‘Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and announce to her that her time of forced labor [the time of despair] is over.
Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert.'” Each time we face some type of darkness, experience some type of feeling parched in the desert place, or feeling some type of defeat, hear the words of the Lord, “Comfort, comfort,…” Look at the love of the Lord. He is sending words of comfort to his people to encourage them. God is actively demonstrating His love.
