2013 Advent Season
Greetings My Brothers and Sisters;
I greet you all in the name of OUR Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ. I pray that this letter finds you all well and in good spirits. Wow! Advent is upon us once again. Where did the time go? As we begin this time of reflection on the holy season of Advent, let us all take a moment to give thanks to God for another year that He has blessed us to see. Let us also take an opportunity to reflect on how we might become better disciples of and for Jesus. .
As Advent begins, we remember the ancient promise told through the prophet Isaiah, that says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
That word “advent” means “approach” or “arrival,” and it refers to the coming of Jesus Christ into the world. During the Advent season we use this time to reflection, to anticipation, and to celebrate. We are celebrating Christ’s coming, remembering him as the child born to Mary and anticipating his triumphal return in the future.
The readings from book of the Prophet Isaiah, during the first Sunday of Advent, the prophet speaks in the voice of God and calls the people of Israel to repentance to help prepare them for the coming of His Son. As we look forward to Christmas, we wait for the coming of Christ. We remember his first coming as a baby in Bethlehem, and we anticipate his second coming, let do everything possible fix any broken relationship we may have encountered this year.
Yours in Christ,
